Agio-USA is celebrating its 25th year in business in 2014
Bob Gaylord, president of Agio-USA said, “We’ve been able to grow this business over the last 25 years to become the largest outdoor furniture supplier in the United States.”
Gaylord recounted the conditions that gave rise to the company in 1989. “I had spent 17 years in the casual furniture and seasonal hardlines business as a manufacturer and importer. When production began shifting to China, that was the premise for starting the company.”
“Many companies with offshore roots or relationships fade away for one reason or another. We’ve had relationships that go back almost 40 years, since before Agio was formed,” Gaylord said.
Outdoor furniture made of extruded aluminum and castings have been a staple of Agio-USA from the beginning. However, the company has been able to expand its offerings over the past 25 years to include all-weather wicker, with sales of almost $100 million a year, and gas fire pits.
“We introduced gas fire pits to the market about 10 years ago, starting the category. We’ve sold over one million gas fire pits since and we expect our business this year to double,” Gaylord said.
